LOW MOOR – Alleghany bounced back in a big way last Thursday with a 48-24 blowout victory over the previously undefeated Staunton in a non-district girls varsity basketball game.

 
The senior tandem of Bryce Leitch and Kelsey Nicely led the way in the Cougars win with a combined 29 points and each recorded a double-double.
 
Leitch scored a game-high 17 points with 16 of them coming in the first half and reeled in 10 rebounds while also dishing out a team-high four assists.
 
Meanwhile Nicely who scored 12 points, also grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.
 
Junior Ty’Aieja Smith had a solid overall performance with six points, eight rebounds, and four steals. Sophomore Ja’Kara Heighter also had four steals for the Cougars.
 
Hayden Terry scored a team-high five points for Staunton.
 
Alleghany (4-1) hosted Buffalo Gap on Tuesday in Low Moor and had a rematch with the Storm in Staunton on Wednesday night.

Leitch 7 2-4 17, Nicely 6 0-0 12, Smith 2 2-2 6, Heighter 2 0-0 5, Lewis 2 0-0 4, Jack 2 0-0 4, Bragg 0 0-0 0, Holloway 0 0-0 0, Rose 0 0-0 0, Wolfe 0 0-0 0. Totals 21 4-6 48.
