Charlotte Bowen Wright, 86, died Thursday, January 28, 2010, at the Woodlands Nursing Home in Clifton Forge. Mrs. Wright was a resident of the Potts Creek area for most of her life.
She was born February 16, 1923 in Alleghany County, a daughter of the late Luster Bowen and Jessie Humphries Bowen Jamison.
She was a first grade teacher at Boiling Spring Elementary School for a number of years and had retired in 1983 from the Covington School Board Office. She was a longtime member of Highland Chapel Christian Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis A. Wright Sr. in 1996; her son, Lewis A. Wright Jr. in 2009; infant twins Alvin and Anne Wright; and by three brothers, John Bowen, George Jamison and David Jamison.
Surviving are her daughter, Carol Sue Bush and her husband, Jacob, of Covington; seven grandchildren, Dixie Lee Willis, Wilsonia Bush, Sheryl Baker, Cynthia Ferris, and Chip Wright, all of Covington and Angela Coleman and Chris Wright, both of Clifton Forge; a host of great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; one sister, Rosemary Wilson of Brevard, N.C.; one brother, Paul Jamison of Covington and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. at the graveside in Lone Star Cemetery with the Rev. J. B. Broughman officiating.
The family will receive their friends Tuesday from 2:30 p.m. until service time at Arritt Funeral Home and Saturday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the home of Chip and Carrie Wright at 210 North Marion Avenue, Covington.
