FAIRLAWN – Another Three Rivers District Invitational in the books, another top performance from Floyd County who won the match shooting a team best 315 for the afternoon last Thursday at the Pete Dye River Course of Virginia Tech in Fairlawn.

The Buffaloes have now won all five TRD invitationals this year and will look to make it six in a row this Thursday at Glenvar High School.

While Floyd County were the top team at The Pete Dye River Course, it was Radford’s Hunter Crist who was the golfer of the afternoon following a day’s best 74, good for 2-over-par. It was the first time this season that a Buffaloe golfer did not win medalist honors.

With the top individual golfer of the afternoon, the Bobcats once again finished second at the invitational with a 331. RHS has finished second in four of their five TRD matches this season.

For the third solo time and fourth overall, Alleghany placed third at a TRD invitational. The Cougars finished third on August 12th at the invitational held at the Great Oaks Country Club in Floyd County.

Junior Kai Rowland led AHS with a team best 86 for the afternoon. It was the second time this season that Rowland finished with a team’s best at an invitational. Rowland shot a team best 87 at the Olde Mill Golf Resort.

Alleghany was also led by Haden Spinks who finished just behind Rowland with an 87, while Jacob Morris shot a 92, and Bubby Entsminger carded with a 93.

It was the second TRD invitational in a row that Carroll County placed in the top four as the Cavaliers finished fourth with a 363. In the first three invitationals of the season CHS had been in the bottom two teams of the events.

Glenvar once again finished in the top five with a 369, while James River was sixth with a 370, and Patrick County rounded out the invitational by shooting a 374.

On Tuesday, Alleghany will be hosting Greenbrier East, W.Va. at the Cliff View Golf Course.
