COVINGTON – Alleghany’s 2024 golf season was underway on Monday as the Cougars finished tied for third place with Glenvar following a team score of 340 in a Three Rivers District Invitational at the Cliff View Golf Club which was won by Floyd County who shot as a team 301.
Last season’s team shot leader, Haden Spinks, put together a solid day on the green as he finished with a team best 77, which was five-over-par for the afternoon. Spinks did not shoot under 80 in any event last season and is off to a great start in the early goings of the 2024 season. Individually, Spinks finished fifth overall in the Invitational.
Other performances from Alleghany; Bubby Entsminger and Kai Rowland, each shot an 85, while Cadiz Marshall finished with a 93. Rowland continued where he left off last season as he shot the same score as he had in the Class 3, Regional C championship last season.
The team match winners, Floyd County, also had the medalist honors for having the top overall individual performance. Both Isaiah Cantrell and Peyton Mason finished with a tie of 72, which was even for par for the afternoon.
The Cougars are back on the green on Wednesday when they travel to Carroll County for another Three Rivers District match at the Olde Mill Golf Resort.
