LOW MOOR – It is hard to imagine that its football season already and we are less than two weeks away from the first Alleghany High School varsity scrimmage of the 2024 season.

The Cougars will kick things off on Friday, August 16th with their first of two scrimmages as they travel to Roanoke County to play against Northside. AHS will then wrap up their scrimmages on Friday, August 23rd with a home game against Stuarts Draft.

One week later on Friday, August 30th, the fun really begins with the season opener. Alleghany will be on the road to open the 2024 season against non-district opponent Waynesboro (Shenandoah Region).

Fast-forwarding all the way to Friday, September 13th, the Cougars will finally have their home opener as they host Rockbridge County in a non-district football game.

Alleghany’s first Three Rivers District football game takes place on Friday, September 27th when the Cougars host Radford.

The Cougars, this season, will only play back-to-back away games once and will not travel for nearly a month following their away game on Friday, September 6 at Fort Defiance. AHS will be at home for the next three weeks following that game against Fort and will also have a bye week as well on October 4th.
