SALEM, Va. (VR) – Curtis A Smith VFW Post 1033 Auxiliary made their quarterly visit to Salem VA to play bingo with some of the residents. We were pleased this time to be taking donations from various local groups to help support their needs. Our Salem VSVA representative, Department of Virginia Auxiliary to VFW, Nancy White (also President of VFW Post 1841 Auxiliary) keeps VFW Auxiliary District 6 President, Bonnie Blake (VFW Post 1264 Auxiliary), informed of any special requests after she makes her scheduled visits.

Thank you to Kaleb Kreations for donating two gift baskets for Salem VA’s October 31, 2025, Holiday Basket Donation fund raiser which will be held at the Salem VA Auditorium 10:00 am to 2:00 PM.

There will be a costume contest and pumpkin decoration contest. Thank you to Volunteer Services representatives James Ferris and Cheryl Ponce’ for their assistance in getting things done during our visit.

Thank you to Allehany Highlands Regional Library for their donation of 100 books to go into Salem VA’s library. This will make a difference in a lot of lives. Thank you Lisa Sponaugle, Library Director, for the library’s generous donation. The Alleghany Highlands Regional Library is always willing to help us with our veterans projects.

Mt. Carmel Church’s May Mission donated toiletries to VFW Post 1033 Auxiliary to go to the Salem VA to help fill their veterans’ needs. Thank you Mt. Carmel.

Curtis A Smith VFW Post 1033 Auxiliary extends appreciation to these groups and all members of the community who help make their projects successful and able to touch the lives of so many veterans.
