COVINGTON- As the Covington Lumberjacks coverage begins to wrap up for 2024, a couple of weeks ago, Jacks’ standout Jorge Garcia was presented with the 2024 Eric Workman Award at Casey Field this past week.
Workman played baseball for the Lumberjacks and was an outfielder in 2007. He went on to become a West Virginia State Trooper and tragically was killed in the line of duty in 2012.
Each year, the Lumberjacks honor the memory of Workman by presenting the Workman Award to a member of the team that best represents what he stood for both on and off the baseball diamond–integrity, leadership and his love for the great game of baseball. Members of the Lumberjack team vote on the award for one of their teammates.
