Olde Town Covington is calling all cookie bakers and crafters to participate in “Santa’s Cookie Contest” and “Mrs. Claus’ Ornament Contest” during Hometown Holidays, Dec. 5.
Registration will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. at the McCarthy Building, 348 W. Main Street, Covington (beside Merle Norman). Winners will be announced around 1:30 p.m.
Both contests will feature a youth category for children 12 and under, as well as an adult category.
Cookie Contest Rules
– each contestant should bring a dozen homemade cookies on a disposable plate;
– a recipe must accompany each entry;
– after judging, the remainder of the cookies will be donated to Safehome Systems;
– the youth winner will receive a gift certificate from Michael’s Pizza;
– the adult winner will receive a gift certificate from The Main Street Shoppe.
Ornament Contest Rules
– ornaments must be handmade;
– contestants must submit their entry no larger than five inches high, five inches wide, and five inches deep;
– the ornament must have a way to hang for display;
– after judging, all entries will be distributed to a local nursing home;
– the youth winner will receive a gift certificate from Michael’s Pizza;
– the adult winner will receive a gift certificate from The Main Street Shoppe.
All winners will be announced through the Virginian Review and The Radio Center.
