HOT SPRINGS – Bath Community Hospital’s physical therapy department will reopen next week at the site of the old hospital business office in Mitchelltown.
Physical therapy operations have been located in the hospital since a Nov. 11 fire destroyed the Bath Community Rehab and Wellness Center in Bacova.
Steve Curtian, director of physical therapy at Bath Community Hospital, said new equipment continues to arrive for the new Mitchelltown facility.
“The equipment is coming in slowly but surely,” Curtian said.
Curtian added that he hopes to unveil plans for the reopening of the wellness portion of the hospital’s operations in the near future. He said that the Mitchelltown facility will serve as temporary location for physical therapy patients until a permanent site can be obtained.
“We plan to consolidate the physical therapy and wellness programs in a single site at sometime in the future,” Curtian said.
Thousands of dollars of exercise and physical fitness equipment were lost in the November fire. Despite the loss, Curtian said he and his staff remain upbeat about the future.
“I’m really optimistic, and the whole staff is really excited,” he said. “This is going to be fantastic.”
