LEXINGTON – The Alleghany boys fell to 2-2 on the young season after dropping a non-district game to Rockbridge Monday, 59-50.
Alleghany led 13-9 after the opening quarter but the hosts responded by outscoring Alleghany 18-8 in the second quarter to take a 27-21 advantage at the half.
Lucas Kirby led Alleghany with 20 points, while Victor Brown added nine. Cassidy Burns, Anthony Church and Justin Lowen scored six points each and Brett Benoit and Tyler Crosier rounded out the Mountaineers’ scoring with two points apiece.
Rockbridge’s Andrew Rowsey led all scorers with a game-high 24 points.
Andrew Bellairs added 11 points for the winners.
Alleghany (2-2) will be back in action Wednesday when they host Covington. Action starts at 6 p.m. with the junior varsity game.
