The Alleghany School board met on Monday, June 10.
The meeting was called to order, and commenting was passed to Gerald Franson.
Franson congratulated the graduating class of 2024 and thanked everyone for being there. He went on to discuss comments from the public and praised the community because oftentimes there was such negativity at these things.
He then turned comments over to Board Member Duncan, who also congratulated the class of 2024. She went on to congratulate schoolboard Chairman Wright and Vice Chairman Harris for having worked so hard for so many years. She also stated she was encouraged for the future.
Other members of the board shared similar sentiments of congratulations for the new graduates.
Wright acknowledged Reed and Cantrell for planning the graduation this year and how wonderful it turned out. He talked about how great it all turned out.
All board members kept referring to this being the first graduating class of the consolidated school and how it was one to remember.
Note was made that the board room was decorated with sunflowers from Alexis Snyder’s art class and that the Judah Watson art class had been studying Van Gogh.
Among noteworthy accomplishments was that the anatomy team is among the top 2% in the nation. Many projects are included at the Jackson River Governor’s School that are more than your average school project.
Frisbees and keychains were given out at the meeting to commemorate the event.
