Outbreak Of Virus Reported At Ronceverte Church

RONCEVERTE, W.Va. —    Health officials have reported a COVID-19 outbreak at a Baptist church in Greenbrier County, W.Va.
The Greenbrier County Health Department said 28 people at Graystone Baptist  Church in Ronceverte, W.Va., have tested positive for COVID-19.
Other cases are pending as health officials await test results.  
Church officials are working with the health department to conduct tracing, so that all people who may have been exposed to the virus are contacted and tested. 
The National Guard was on site Sunday to disinfect the church. Services at the church have been suspended.
Health officials are urging people who think they are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 to be tested. Persons who may have been exposed to the virus are also  being advised to seek testing.
Health officials are again stressing the need for persons to practice social distancing, maintain good hygiene by frequently washing their hands, and wear face coverings while in public buildings.  
In a Facebook posting, leaders at Graystone Baptist said the church was following proper guidelines in conducting its services.
“We do not understand the source of the outbreak. To the best of our ability we followed the guidelines that were given to us,” the post said.
As of Monday, Greenbrier County was reporting 21 cumulative cases of COVID-19 with 14 active cases. Pocahontas County was reporting 20 cumulative cases and Monroe County eight cases.
