Former Lumberjack named to All-AAC Second Team

BIRMINGHAM – Former Covington Lumberjack outfielder from 2023, Logan Braunschweig was recently named the All-AAC (American Athletic Conference) Second Team.
 
Braunschweig, a member of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) had started in 52 of the teams 53 games, while also batting an impressive .315 at the plate, which included 12 extra base hits, along with 26 RBI’s. Braunschweig’s impressive junior season also included leading the AAC in stolen bases with 21.
 
The junior was one of four UAB players elected to the All-ACC first and second teams.
 
Following the fourth week of the season last year in the Valley Baseball League (VBL), Braunschweig was named the VBL Hitter of the Week for that fourth week. During that time Braunschweig batted .500 for the week (11-for-22), along with six RBI’s, seven steals, and drew six walks.
 
In 23 games last season for the Lumberjacks, Braunschweig batted a staggering .377 (29-for-77), 15 RBI’s, 15 walks, 14 stolen bases, 20 runs scored, and four extra-base hits.
 
Covington kicked off their VBL season at home against Culpepper and beat the Turks 6-3.
