Chloe Persinger, a senior at Parry McCluer High School, signed in February to play her college softball at Randolph College in Lynchburg.
Persinger has numerous relatives in the Alleghany Highlands.
They include her grandfather Melvin Persinger of Covington, her grandmother Sherry Watts of Clifton Forge and aunts Machelle Dressler, Kim Mullins and Michelle Caruthers, all of Covington.
Her grandfather Charlie Watts, of Clifton Forge, recently passed away, as did her uncle Melvin Persinger of Covington.
Chloe was the Pioneer District Player of the Year and an all-state selection after both her sophomore and junior seasons.
Chloe was recently named the Parry McCluer female Athlete of the Year.
Her senior softball year was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
