Bath splits regular season finale wrestling match

STAUNTON – In their regular season tri-match finale, Bath County split their wrestling mat contests with a 69-3 win over Virginia Episcopal and a 48-36 loss to Grace Christian.
 
In the victory over VES, the Chargers grabbed pinfall wins from A.J. Woodson (144), Paxton Rivenbark (157), Jeremy Burns (165), Miguel Malpica (190), Dillan Royer (215), and Asa Altizer (285).
 
BCHS also grabbed a mat victory from Noah Boiling (175). Meanwhile, Samantha Horne, Emily Robertson, Renee Tuning, Abby Stone, and Ethan Bryant, all won by forfeit. 
 
It was a tougher go-around in their match with Grace Christian as the team did not record a pinfall win during the match.
 
Mackenzie Riley, Robertson, Bryant, Rivenbark, Malpica, and Royer, all had forfeit victories against the Warriors.
 
This was the final match of the regular season for Bath County as the Chargers wrestled in the Class 1, Region C tournament this past Saturday at Parry McCluer High School. We’ll have coverage in our Thursday edition.
