Doris Lorraine Kelly Averill, age 81, of 104 Cahoon Lane, Low Moor, Virginia died Monday, September 7, 2020 at The Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation Center in Low Moor.
She was born December 15, 1938 in Clifton Forge, Virginia to the late Howard and Carlos Johnson Kelly Downey.
She was a retired unit secretary for Alleghany Regional Hospital and a member of Low Moor Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed recording and watching her soap operas, and was a fan of the New York Yankees and NASCAR racing. She especially loved spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Eben Averill in January.
She is survived by two sons, Michael Averill of Clifton Forge and Darrell Averill and wife Marie of Buena Vista; two sisters, Mary Nicely of Clifton Forge and Juanita Kern of Covington; a granddaughter, Emily Michelle Averill of Covington; a step grandson, Christopher Fix of Buena Vista; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.
Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor.
Pallbearers will be Scottie Averill, Greg Averill, David Noel, David Nicely, Rodney Broughman, Donnie Crosier and Jody Hoover.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11:30 AM until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
