William A. “Bill” McClintic
William A. “Bill” McClintic, 79, of Salem, Va., passed away Friday, September 22, 2023, at his home. Bill was born in Washington, DC on August 19, 1944, to the late Alton C. McClintic and Annalee Addington McClintic.
He graduated from Covington High School in 1961 and was a graduate of Virginia Tech, Class of 1966, with a degree in Chemistry. He was a member of the VT Corps of Cadets – Squadron D.
Upon graduation, he worked at Hercules Corporation in Covington, Virginia. He then commenced work with the Brunswick Defense Division in DeLand, Florida. For many years, he worked for Brunswick Defense in DeLand, Marion, Virginia and Willard, Ohio (where he served as plant manager). His final employment was with ITT Night Vision in Roanoke. His work in the defense industry involved traveling to many countries around the world (especially NATO countries). Bill was an avid reader and a great Hokie fan.
Surviving to cherish his memory is his wife of 58 years, Janice; their sons, Bill Jr. (Dawn) of South Riding, Virginia, Mark (Calintha) of Hendersonville, North Carolina; his brother, Bob McClintic (Nellie) of White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia; grandchildren, Alex, Neil, Ella, and Preston; step-granddaughter, Aurora; former daughter-in-law, Anne McClintic; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Good Samaritan Hospice and their wonderful staff. Also, many thanks to Dr. Unwin, Dr. Saks, and Dr. Ravi. We would also like to thank our wonderful neighbors for their help, support, and kindness.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 7, 2023, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Oakey’s South Chapel where a Memorial Service will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Bob McClintic officiating.
