LOW MOOR, VA – The remarkable ride the Alleghany Mountaineers varsity baseball team had this season came to an end this past Friday in Salem following a 5-4 loss to Poquoson in the Class 2 state semifinals.

In the schools’ final season ever on the diamond, it concluded with a 20-win, 3-loss season where they won the regional championship.

The accolades though, for this unforgettable season, keep coming in for the Mounties and its players. The team had six players named to 2023 All-Region 2C baseball teams, including Hunter DePriest (outfield) and Eli Weese (at-large) who were named to the all-region first team.

Meanwhile, along with his all-district coach of the year, Mounties head coach Seth Bradley was named the all-region coach of the year.
