PEARISBURG, VA – Kerrigan Mitcham could not be stopped in the Giles Lady Spartans 7-0 shutout victory over the Bath County Lady Chargers in the Class 1, Region C girls soccer tournament on Thursday, May 25th.
Mitcham put together a four-goal performance for the Spartans who improved to 5-11-1 with their regional first-round victory.
Giles also grabbed goals from Ada Steele, Abbie White, and Anna Williams. The Spartans played Auburn in the semifinals on Monday.
It was a collective effort on the nets as Finn Lucas and Whitney Hite split the time as goalkeeper and each delivered with six saves each.
Giles was able to get three goals past Bath County goalkeeper Zoey Jenkins. Jenkins did have a 19-save performance. Anna Essex allowed four goals on the nets and had six saves for the Chargers.
Alison Morton and Sierra Gardener led the Chargers with 15 steals. Morton had eight, while Gardener had seven. Samantha Horne led the team with five shots on goal.
Bath County finished its season at 3-12-1.
