ROANOKE — Dottie Hite Ward, 74, of Roanoke, passed away peacefully Friday, Jan. 1, 2021.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell Jones and Sadie Lively Hite; a brother, Russell Jones Hite; and a sister, Margaret Hite Elder.
Dottie is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jack C. Ward; a son, Matthew H. Ward and his wife Susan; a sister, Anne Hite; a sister-in-law, Ann Butler; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Dottie graduated from Covington High School and received her registered nurse license from Lynchburg General Hospital. 
She followed her career in nursing in Charleston, S.C., before serving as director of home health at Friendship Manor in Roanoke, where she earned her nursing home administrator license. 
Dottie retired as the director of nurses at Park Oak Grove.
Funeral services will be private. 
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice.
Arrangements entrusted to Oakey’s Funeral Service – North Chapel, Roanoke, 540-362-1237.
