The Clifton Forge Town Council conducted its called meeting to discuss personnel and real estate in Town Council Chambers at 7:00 p.m. on Tues., Feb. 28. Mayor Jeff Irvine called the meeting to order, and Councilman Carl “Shorty” Wolfe gave the invocation. Mayor Irvine led the “Pledge of Allegiance” before declaring a closed session. During the closed session pursuant to Section 2.2-3711 personnel based upon Code Section A.1 and Section 2.2-
3711 real estate based upon Code Section A:3, Council discussed and voted upon the matters at hand. Town Manager Charles “Chuck” Unroe noted that Councilwoman Debbie Laudermilk was not present, and Irvine and Wolfe were joined in the 4-0 vote by Vice-Mayor Dale Burdette and Councilman Ben Nicely. Mayor Irvine called for the vote that passed 4-0 to return Council to an open session during which a vote was passed 4-0 to certify what Council had approved during the closed session. Mayor Irvine then called for an adjournment, and Council voted to adjourn the meeting that no citizens attended except for the media and one citizen who left when the closed session began. Town Attorney Jared Jenkins was in attendance to provide to Council his legal expertise.
