Billy Grey Depriest Sr., 65, of 341 Grande St., died, Monday November 1, 2020 at his residence.
Mr. Depriest was born January 31, 1955 in Alleghany County a son of the late Ira T. Sr. and Pauline Rogers Depriest.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Ira Depriest Jr.
Billy was an independent logger and a member of the Church of God of Prophecy. In his spare time, he loved to go coon and deer hunting as well as loved horses, the Dallas Cowboys, watching wrestling, and playing cards. He was a family man loved his grandkids and spending time with them at holidays.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years Stella Wright Depriest, three daughters Amy Collins, Tracy Richardson and husband Shawn all of Covington, and Rachel Depriest and Randy Pritt of Hot Springs, two sons Billy Depriest Jr. and Sammy Wright both of Covington, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, six sisters, two brothers, two step brothers, a step mother Alice Depriest, close friends; James Tucker, Lance and Pat Hutton, Connie and Minner Craft, care giver Jessica McKinney, and special nurse Mary Beth Garten, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday November 4, 2020 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Edith Snedegar officiating assisted by Rev. Shorty Wolfe.
The family will receive their friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 at Arritt Funeral Home.
The interment will follow in Emory United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The pallbearers will be Matt Depriest, Shawn Richardson, Tyler Jessie, Bert Depriest, Robert Fridley, and Wayne Montgomery. Alternative pallbearers will be Donnie Depriest Jr and Dean Depriest Jr.
The family suggests memorial donation in Mr. Depriest’s name be made to the United Spinal Association at 800 E Leigh St. Richmond, VA 23298.
