Mr. Robert Burton “Bobby” Weikel, age 73, of Covington, died October 30, 2020, at LewisGale Hospital-Alleghany, Low Moor.
Mr. Weikel was born March 22, 1947 in Virginia, the adopted son of the late Hollis Burton Weikel and Alice Long Weikel.
 He served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict where he was stationed stateside.  During his thirty year working career, Bobby was employed as a law enforcement officer for various locations before retiring from Rockbridge County.  Following his retirement from law enforcement, Mr. Weikel was a loyal part-time employee of Loving Funeral Home.  Bobby was a member and past master of the Glasgow Masonic Lodge #233 AF&AM.    He enjoyed hunting and was an open water diver.
Mr. Weikel is survived by two sons, Robert B. Weikel, Jr. of Montvale and Robert Jerry Barger, Jr. of Lexington; a daughter, Kristin Barger Staub  and husband, Jeff of New Freedom, PA; five grandchildren, Maddalena Weikel, Lauren Staub, Cooper Weikel, Tyler Staub and Katlyn Staub; and two sisters, Brenda Weiss of Richmond and Betty  Peters of Richmond.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Weikel was preceded in death by his biological mother, Juanita Tooley and a brother, Donald Bowles.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3:30 P.M., Friday, November 13, 2020, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Hollenbeck officiating.
The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the American Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, P.O. Box 801018 Charlottesville, VA 22908.
