Mrs. Linda Irene Landes Bowling, age 81, of Covington, died Thursday, October 22, 2020, at Bath County Community Hospital, Hot Springs. She was the wife of the late Gerald W. Bowling who preceded her in death in 2008.
Mrs. Bowling was born March 25, 1939 in Covington, the daughter of the late Everette “Pete” Landes, Jr. and Geraldine Douglas Landes.
During her working career, she was employed by the former Leggett Department Store as well as Tri-County Furniture, retiring from there in 2015.
Linda was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. Mrs. Bowling was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed working outdoors with her plants. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Mrs. Bowling is survived by a daughter, Penny Bowling Anderson and husband, Clarence “Lurch” Anderson; her granddog, Abby; her brother-in-law who was like a son, Aubrey Bowling and wife, Pat; and a very special cousin, Inna Henderson who was like a sister.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Bowling was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Brenda Gail Bowling.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M Monday, October 26, 2020, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Hollenbeck officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Monday afternoon from noon until time of service at Loving Funeral Home.
The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, 1200 N. Alleghany Avenue, Covington, VA 24426 or the Alleghany Humane Society, 9313 Rich Patch Road, Low Moor, VA 24457.
The family would like to send special thanks to all of the wonderful staff at Bath County Community Hospital for the excellent care given to Mrs. Bowling.
Arrangements are being handled by Loving Funeral Home; www.lovingfuneralhome1913.com.
