Lexington, Va. (VR) – The Twenty-Fifth Judicial Circuit Court of Virginia for the County of Rockbridge has denied a request by the Virginia Military Institute for dismissal of a lawsuit filed against the Institute by the Center for Applied Innovation, LLC. CAI, a bidder in the procurement process to choose a Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion consultant, alleges that the Institute committed “serious” violations of the Virginia Public Procurement Act with the methodology used to issue a Notice of Intent (NOI) to award the contract to NewPoint Strategies, a DEI consultant in McLean, VA.

The Spirit of VMI PAC welcomes the transparency resulting from discovery in this case and looks forward to learning more about the VMI Administration’s intentions in its Gadarene sprint to perpetuate the recent implementation of Critical Race Theory, purported to be DEI, at the Institute. These decisions were made despite the finding by an independent firm that systemic racism does not exist at VMI, as famously claimed by the Northam Administration.

VMI Leadership’s quest to implement CRT persists. In response to a directive by the Governor and the Virginia General Assembly that prohibits DEI-funding from appropriations, a VMI spokesman responded that VMI would find the funds “somewhere else”. That “Somewhere else,” the PAC has learned from a senior Institute official, is to be Cadet Tuition and Fees. DEI requirements are being implemented in defiance of divisive content policies made by the Governor and endorsed by the Attorney General.

Founded in 2021, the Spirit of VMI PAC is a registered Virginia Political Action Committee whose purpose is to preserve VMI’s reputation as an elite leadership institution.
