Clifford Brooks Persinger Sr., 90, of 508 W. Gilliam St., died, Sunday, April 3, 2022, at his residence.
Mr. Persinger was born November 3, 1931, in Alleghany County a son of the late William Abraham and Cora Persinger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife in 2019 Violet Wolfe Persinger; four brothers and six sisters.
He served in the United State Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He retired in 1997 after 37 years from Westvaco as a Machinist in the Research Lab. He was a member of the Cliffdale Christian Church and attended First Christian Church. He was the owner of CBP Machine Shop, had three US Patents, and loved walking and feeding the squirrels. He loved his family and sitting on the porch and had a love for children.
Surviving are his three daughters, Doris Childs and Bobbie Persinger both of Covington, Ronda Smith of Roanoke, three sons and daughters in law, Richard and JoAnne Persinger of Lewisburg, WV, Dennis and Julie Persinger of Covington, and Clifford Persinger Jr. and wife Terry of Clifton Forge; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; his caregivers, Brenda Bogar and Jeanette Buchanan; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held on April 6, 2022, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating.
The family will receive their friends on Tuesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Arritt Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorial donations be made in Mr. Persinger’s name to the Simmons Cemetery Association Fund at 691 Riverview Lane Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
The funeral arrangements are being handled by Arritt Funeral Home.
