The DSLCC Roadrunners (12-14) men’s basketball team entered their game on Tuesday night having lost six games in a row and in desperate need of a victory.
With the Region 10 Tournament looming, the Roadrunners had one final regular season game at home and picked up a much needed win over Hosanna Bible College, 72-66.
The victory was in large part thanks to the teams 40-point second half.
It was a team effort all-around for the Roadrunners who had four of their five starters finish in double figures scoring.
Dayshawn Hamilton, led the way for the Roadrunners with a team-high 19 points, while Noryen Lasley, added another double-double to his stat book with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Also, Jaylen Hudson, scored 13 points, and K’knowledge Rawlings, dropped in 12. Tre McCrary, chipped in with seven points.
The Roadrunners will be on the road today at the Region 10 tournament semifinal playing against the Sandhills Community College Flyers. The Flyers on the season are 3-0 against the Roadrunners. The last time the two schools met was this past Saturday where the Flyers won 97-80.
The winner of the Flyers/Roadrunners game will play in the Region 10 Championship on Friday. That winner will advance to play the Region 12 champion in a single elimination for a spot in the National Tournament that will be held in Illinois.
The Roadrunners have momentum now following their six point win over Hosanna.
