Mrs. Martha Jane Rock Douglas, age 72, of Covington, died Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville. She was the wife of Gary Wayne Douglas to whom she was married to for fifty-two years.

Mrs. Douglas was born November 3, 1949, in Virginia, the daughter of the late Benton Junior Rock and Rachel Marie Craft Rock. A beautiful lady, in 1969, Martha was elected Queen of Hearts in the local pageant and returned to the stage fifty years later to celebrate with the other ladies. During her working career, she was employed by the former Lear Corporation, the former Alleghany Regional Hospital, and was employed as a machine operator by the former Carris Plastics before her retirement. Mrs. Douglas was a member of Temple Baptist Church where she was active in the choir and Young At Heart church group. She enjoyed watching Christmas movies all year long, crocheting, going to yard sales, and playing cards especially “Rummy”. She was a truly wonderful person with an over-the-top personality who was full of life and fun to be around. Martha was a loving wife, mother, nana, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Douglas is survived by a son, Trent Douglas, and wife, Julie; two grandchildren, Austin Trent Douglas and girlfriend, Brooke Crowder and Kayla Hope Douglas and boyfriend, Timmy Harris; two brothers, Joey Rock and wife, Tammy and Dale Rock and wife, Leisa; two sisters, Paula Thompson and Pat Rock; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Douglas was preceded in death by three brothers-in-law, Barry Douglas, Vaughn Douglas, and Gary Thompson.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Temple Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Hartsfield officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Austin Douglas, Drew Hayslett, Michael Douglas, Michael Rock, Anthony Thompson and Caleb Haynes. Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Rock and Carlos Caldwell.

The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service at Temple Baptist Church and at other times at the residence of Trent and Julie Douglas.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Temple Baptist Church Music Department, 300 Stratton Street, Covington, VA 24426.

Arrangements are being handled by Loving Funeral Home; www.lovingfuneralhome1913.com.
