MILLBORO — Warren McChesney Crowder Jr., age 93 of Millboro, Virginia, passed away at his home on Monday, October 4, 2021.
Warren was born June 7, 1928, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Warren McChesney Crowder Sr. and Pauline Lyle Crowder.
He was a farmer and worked as a right-of-way foreman for BARC before retiring. He loved hunting and fishing and all of the time spent with his hunting friends. He served in the U.S. Army from February 1953 to 1955 and was stationed in Germany. He was a member of Millboro Presbyterian Church and the Staunton Veterans of Foreign Wars.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Lucille Carey Crowder and a brother Tommy Crowder.
He is survived by special friends and caregivers, Michael and Vicki Grist of Millboro, Adam and Katie Grist of Marietta, GA, Nathan and Samatha Stein of Richmond; a niece, Lea Crisman of Denver, Colo.; a sister-in-law, Sissy Crowder of Grottoes; and friends and caregivers, Frances Wolfe, Joe Grimm, Ruth Seal, and Sheena Landrum, all of Millboro.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at 10 a.m. in Thornrose Cemetery, Staunton with the Reverend Lloyd Via officiating. Interment will immediately follow. There will be no formal visitation. However, friends may call anytime at the residence.
