LOW MOOR — The Alleghany County School Board will meet Monday at 6 p.m. at Gleason Forum Hall, Clifton Middle School.
Under community participation, the school board will issue commendations to FCCLA students and issue Virginia School Boards Association News Media Honor Roll certificates to Jerry Clark of the Alleghany Journal, Mark Pifer of The Recorder and Darrell Gleason of the Virginian Review.
After opening remarks from Chairman Jacob Wright, the board will hear comments from David Clark, the Rev. Mike Rollins and Joshua Madison.
Administrative reports and recommendations will include:
— The Aug. 25 opening of schools.
— A Sept. 14 Jackson River Technical Center Joint Board of Control meeting.
— The September school board meeting at Callaghan Elementary School.
— A board retreat and annual training on Sept. 17.
— The Virginia School Boards Association’s annual conference in Williamsburg Nov. 17-19.
— Information regarding the reopening of schools.
— Consideration of updates to the health mitigation plan.
— A timeline for a comprehensive plan.
— Delinquent/bad lunch debt.
— Review of policies.
There will be a closed session to discuss personnel matters, student matters, legal matters and compulsory attendance.
