Kevin Alexander Hennessy and Heather Dianna Nicholson were united in marriage June 16, 2012 at 5 p.m. at the beautiful mountain setting of Merry Go Round Farm in Covington.
Heather is the daughter of Stephen and Martha Nicholson of Covington.
Kevin is the son of William J. Hennessy Jr. and Arezou Hennessy of Ashburn.
Jeff Lieberman, friend of the bride and groom officiated the ceremony.
The bride, escorted by her father, descended down a grassy hill and entered the outdoor sitting area.
She wore a gown lovingly designed and made by her mother and herself. The off-white raw silk dress featured a
strapless bodice, accented on the bodice area with rosettes and pearls.
The rosettes were composed of vintage fabric from the wedding dress of the bride’s maternal grandmother, and made by her mother,
Heather’s maternal great-grandmother. This dress was also worn by the bride’s mother, Martha. The veil featured vintage lace from the same dress.
The bride carried a bouquet of bright coral peonies with accents of dahlias, ranunculus, and wild flowers.
Attendants for the ceremony were: Matron of Honor: Jennifer Nicholson Downey, sister of the bride; Bridesmaids: Heather Cole, childhood friend of the bride; Emily Banks, friend of the bride; Anna Garland, friend of the bride; Sasha Hennessy, sister of the groom; Natasha Hennessy, sister of the groom; and Alicia Hennessy-Lee, sister of the groom.
The bridesmaids wore a gray strapless, fitted knee length dress by JCrew.
Best Man was Christopher Hennessy, brother of the groom; Groomsmen were William Hennessy III, brother of the groom; John Hennessy, brother of the groom; Edward Hall, friend of the groom, Andy Beck, friend of the groom; Bob Kime, friend of the groom; and James Becker, friend of the groom. Each of them wore a gray suit.
Music was provided by violinist Michael Tyree. Soloists Linn Glisson and Stephen Nicholson sang “The Gift of
Love.”
An evening of dinner and dancing followed the ceremony.
The couple left the area with a sparkler lit processional.
They were driven off by family friend, Gordon Specht in his TR-6, which he restored himself.
Dianne Garcia served as the wedding coordinator.
Mrs. Hennessy is a 2009 graduate of Virginia Tech’s Department of Psychology and 2010 graduate of Virginia
Commonwealth University’s Master’s in Occupational Therapy program.
She works as a rehab therapist in the INOVA Mount Vernon Hospital in Alexandria.
Mr. Hennessy is a 2010 graduate of Virginia Tech’s Communication Program and is employed as a computer
programmer for CACI in Washington, D.C.
Prenuptial entertainment included an engagement party hosted by the groom’s parents.
A bridal shower hosted by Lynda Specht, Linn Glisson and Heather Cole; a shower in Northern Virginia, hosted by the groom’s sisters, Natasha and Sasha Hennessy, and Alicia Hennessy-Lees; A bachelorette party in NYC, hosted by the bride’s sister, Jennifer Nicholson Downey; and a bachelor party at Dewey beach, hosted by the groomsmen.
A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents at Mountain View Restaurant.
After a honeymoon trip to Costa Rica, the couple will make their home in Alexandria, with their cat,
Sweetie.
