Dear Editor,
Pat and I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of you who have helped with our fundraising events, gave so freely of your time, your many talents and been true givers to us in so many ways.
Many of you have purchased meals, had a car washed, came to the gospel sing, given to other events and even made a donation without asking for anything in return. We are truly blessed by so many wonderful caring and giving people. To our church family, you are a faithful group who has loved us with open arms and show the love of Jesus to all, true examples of what it is to be a Christian.
Thanks to the staff at Davita, Pat’s doctors, and staff of Alleghany Regional for the care they give.
As some of you already know, for over three years, Pat has been in total kidney failure and on dialysis; this is keeping him alive. Pat’s only option for a long and healthier life is to receive a kidney transplant when a match becomes available.
Because those of you who have graciously given to his need, Pat is now on the active call list at the University of Virginia Hospital and Charleston Area Medical Center. We are giving God praise for this victory and believing Pat’s gift will come. God has a perfect plan for our lives when we trust and obey Him.
The word states, Psalm 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.” Psalm 28:7 says, “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise Him.”
Due to the extraordinary expense of transplantation, funding this life-saving operation is a monumental ongoing task. We will continue to offset Pat’s uninsured medical costs with upcoming fundraiser events. You can stay updated at NTAF.com and go to find a patient; type in Pat Scruggs kidney. We will keep all who have been so faithful, loving and kind in our prayers.
Please stand in faith with us believing for the kidney that is needed for Pat’s transplant and for the money to be available as needed. We had to raise $3,000 before Pat was put on the active list at one hospital and then we were told if that is all we raised, he should think about turning the kidney down if he was called before a lot more money was raised. For the first six months after transplant the estimated cost is $10,000; then $12,000 for the next five years.
NTAF is a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for more than 28 years. All contributions raised are sent to NT AF exclusively for Pat’s transplant-related expenses.
No gift is too large or too small; we are grateful for them all. We have met so many nice and caring people since we started this endeavor that we did not know before, and many of you we still don’t know who have given. Thanks so much to all of you.
If anyone wishes to make a donation, please make checks payable to: NTAF South-Atlantic Kidney Transplant Fund, in honor of Pat Scruggs, NTAF, 150 N. Radnor Chester Rd., Suite F-120 Radnor, Pa. 19087.
Together, we can make a difference by assisting Pat during this difficult time. Your financial gift or help with a fundraiser Will be a blessing and give us hope for his future. Thank you again for your generosity and support.
We believe God to guide us all the way to the finish line but along life’s pathway we should all make time to praise the Lord everyday for all the blessings we already have, share a smile and a prayer with someone; take time to see God’s beauty all around us and live knowing we are ready to meet our Maker at any time. None of us are guaranteed tomorrow on this earth.
Sincerely,
Dianna Scruggs
