HOT SPRINGS – Hot Springs native Jerry Nelson has announced the release of “Sacred Journey,” a DVD photographic documentary of his recent trip to the Vietnam Veterans War Memorial in Washington, D.C.
Nelson accompanied roughly 60 veterans from the western North Carolina region. About half of those veterans had never been to “The Wall” before.
“I’ve been fortunate. I’ve been able to go the The Wall many times,” Nelson said. “But to be there with so many guys who had never been, it made it all fresh for me.
The veterans left North Carolina on Oct. 29 and stayed through Nov. 1.
“We spent the nights at Prince William Campground at Quantico,” said Nelson. “The cabins were rustic but it gave everyone a sense of being back in the military and completing a mission together.”
The DVD is available in stores and online now and a companion coffee table book is due out in time for Christmas.
Photographs from the trip can be seen on Nelson’s Web site, www.journeyamerica.or-g/events/sacredjourney.
