Douthat State Park employees and guests gathered around the flag pole outside the main office Wednesday morning to remember the tragedy that struck the United States on Sept. 11, 2001.
Josh McMillen spoke about the day and its impact on the country and citizens, likening it to the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Those gathered shared a moment of silence, commemorating those who died in terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a field outside Shanksville, Pa.
The terrorist attacks claimed the lives of 2,977 people that fateful day 12 years ago.
