Dabney S. Lancaster Community College celebrated TRIO Day February 10 by recognizing the two TRIO programs on campus — Talent Search and Student Support Services.
TRIO programs are federally funded programs that help first-generation students prepare for college and receive support once they are enrolled.
Two DSLCC staff members, Lauren Wiley and Nova Wright, spoke briefly about their experiences with the two programs.
Wiley, a Talent Search alumna, is employed in Student Services as an advisor, while Wright, an SSS alumna, is the DSLCC Library director.
“We recognized their achievements and they spoke of the support and help that they had received as members of TRIO,” explained Christie Hardbarger, Talent Search director. “Both now enjoy helping students as they had been helped.”
