The Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Tourism hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony Monday at Bannon’s Irish Inn, located at 411 E. Ridgeway St. in downtown Clifton Forge.
The structure was built in the 1890s by the Scott family, and served as a restaurant, located on the first floor, with a hotel located on the second and third floors.
In approximately 1910, an addition was added, housing a barber shop, which gave the building its unique triangular shape.
In 2012 Richard Bannon purchased the building.
That same year, after renovation, the first floor opened with the Tea Room restaurant and Celtic 2 Scotch-Irish gift shop.
In March, the second floor bed and breakfast was opened, featuring two bedrooms. Each bedroom has its own parlor and private bathroom with the original claw-foot tubs.
Also, one of the units has a rear porch complete with seating and a grill.
