CLIFTON FORGE — Clifton Forge Main Street, Inc., together with the Masonic Theatre Preservation Foundation, is organizing “Haunted Happenings” in Clifton Forge.

Celebrate the Halloween season in Clifton Forge from Oct. 24 through Halloween night.

To involve a slightly older group of children of our community in a positive and fun event, middle school art students have been invited by Clifton Forge Main Street, to participate in a window painting contest at the stores of area merchants who have agreed to lend their windows for this event.

These students will volunteer to paint a teacher-approved, fall or Halloween theme on the outside window of participating businesses on Thursday, Oct. 24.

Each designated window will have a card showing the student’s name and grade.

The entries will be judged prior to Oct. 31 and will remain on display until Nov. 1 for all to come and view.  Winners will be announced in the newspaper after Halloween.

Plan a trip to the historic downtown area of Clifton Forge between Oct. 24 and Nov. 1 to view the works of our young artists.

Younger children of our community ages 4-8, are also invited to trick-or-treat in downtown Clifton Forge from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31. This will allow a safe environment for younger children to trick-or- treat as well as a fun activity for those too young for more traditional Halloween celebrations.

A Bat Picture will be displayed in the windows of all area merchants who will have candy to distribute.  All merchants and employees of participating businesses are urged to join in the spirit of the day, by wearing Hal-loween costumes.

On Oct. 25, 26 and 30, the Masonic Theatre Preser-vation Committee will temporarily open its doors to the public for a haunted tour of its corridors, stage and inner sanctums as it is decorated for a scary seasonal event titled, “Something Wicked.”

Ticket holders will tour all three floors of the theatre adorned in haunted finery as 13 hair-raising scenes are enacted by spooky volunteers.

On Oct. 25, the event will begin at 7 and end at 11p.m. with tours running continuously through the theatre.

On Oct. 26 the event will begin at 7 and end at 11 p.m.

On Oct. 30, the Masonic Theatre’s “Something Wicked” will be open from 7 to 9 p.m.

“Something Wicked” is suitable for children 12 and older.  Tickets will sell for $5 each.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to “Save the Masonic” restoration.
