RICHMOND — Teresa Showman was hoping for a little extra money for Christ-mas, maybe as much as $1,000. But when the Maurertown woman scratch-ed a Casino Cash ticket from the Virginia Lottery, she won a bit more than that.
She won the game’s $2.5 million top prize.
“I couldn’t believe all the zeros on the ticket,” she said. “I’m still in shock.”
She bought her winning ticket at Express Mart, 203 South Main Street in Woodstock.
She had the choice of taking the full $1 million prize over 30 years or a one-time cash option of $1,351,351 before taxes. She chose the cash option. The store received a $10,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling the winning ticket.
