Friends Of c.F. Library Planning Spring Book Sale

CLIFTON FORGE – The Friends of the Clifton Forge Public Library will be holding its spring book sale on Friday, March 30, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, March 31, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

These sales are semi-annual events and lots of people look forward to them to replenish their home libraries.

Organizers are appealing to folks in the surrounding Alleghany Highlands to begin right now to start your “spring cleaning” and share your gently used books with the Friends of the Library.

You will get them out of your way, those who love to read will enjoy some good reading and the Friends hopefully will make some money to continue to sponsor quality programs and buy supplies that the otherwise limited budget of the library would prohibit.

Summer is coming up and the library always sponsors programs during the summer months for young people who are out of school. These programs broaden the horizons of the young people in the surrounding community and also allow the library to furnish additional materials to implement these programs.

While the Friends have a supply of books that have been donated throughout the year, they are in need of best-sellers from this year and from years past. These can be novels, historical novels, or mysteries.

Any gently used books that you have read, and let’s face it, are getting in your way now, would be so welcome and would be for such a good cause. The group emphasizes that these books should be clean and sellable.

Always popular are craft books so that you can pursue that hobby you have pushed to the back burner. How-to books of all kinds are always popular, those that appeal to men and those that appeal to women.

Cookbooks are in demand, and books with a religious theme are popular. Reference books may be useless to you, but may be what someone else has been looking for.

DVDs, CDs, and old VHS tapes are always popular. They may be gathering dust in your home and may be what someone else has been looking for.

When you get started on this early spring cleaning, and you find the amount of things you have gotten together is too large or too heavy for you to carry, all you need to do is call the Clifton Forge Public Library at 540-863-2519, tell them where you live and you need things picked up for the sale, and someone will come to your house and take your “goodies” to the library for the sale.

If you have just a few books, drop them off at the library yourself and have the satisfaction that your donation is for a good cause.
