Virginia Tech Dining Services is a key partner in the university’s effort to reduce food waste. Dining currently sends about 300 tons of food waste and compostable service ware each year to an off-campus composting facility, material that could eventually be processed at the planned facility at Kentland Farm. “Getting Through the Holidays after a Loss” will be the theme of a grief-support session Tuesday at First Christian Church in Covington.

The 7 p.m. session will be held in the church’s family life center. The Rev. Bill Gilliland will serve as facilitator.

The session will be sponsored by Mountain Regional Hospice in Clifton Forge.

“The Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays can be very difficult for those who have experienced significant losses,” Gilliland said. “Each year, we try to offer encouragement and support oriented to this special need.”

Tuesday’s support session is open to anyone on the grief journey. The First Christian Family Life Center is located at 231 E. Fudge St., with parking available at the rear of the church.

For more information, contact Mountain Regional Hospice, 862-8820.
