WAYNESBORO — Born Sept. 13, 1926, in Elkview, W.Va., Bradford Owen Moles went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018.
He was surrounded by his devoted and loving wife of 66 years, along with his children.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Emory Moles Sr.; and his mother, Chloe Edith (Pauley) Moles.
He attributed lifelong lessons of integrity and honesty to his parents.
He was the youngest of six siblings who preceded him in death, Virginia Moles Priestley, Darius G. Moles, William (Bill) Emory Moles Jr., Edsel G. Moles, Janice Moles Samples and infant brother, Robert Lee Moles.
Mr. Moles responded to God’s call for ministry and attended the New England School of Theology in Brookline, Mass.
There he fell in love with his beloved and devoted wife of 66 years, Nadeen Nicely Moles.
During seminary he enjoyed sharing the Gospel in many Advent Christian Churches throughout new England and Quebec.
After graduation and marriage, his first pastorate was completed at the Advent Christian Church in New Bedford, Mass.
From there he pastored Advent Christian Churches in Spencer W.Va. and Monroe, N.C.
In 1962, he answered a call to Waynesboro, where he served the Advent Christian Church for 20 years.
In addition to pastoral ministry in Waynesboro, he served the congregation at Hamilton Chapel in Highland County.
He served two terms as president of the Virginia Advent Christian Conference.
During his leadership as president of the Conference, he led the acquisition of 78 acres in Millboro for a youth camp and spiritual retreat know today as Camp ACCOVAC.
While pastoring in Waynesboro, he taught at New Hope Elementary School, for 27 years.
During his tenure, he graduated from the University of Virginia receiving his master of education degree.
He remained a loyal champion of Thomas Jefferson whom he lovingly referred to as “Mr. Jefferson.”
He loved lifelong learning and helping to meet the needs of others.
Mr. Moles never met a stranger and was very generous, hospitable and will always be known for his unconditional love.
He thoroughly loved the outdoors, hiking, fishing, hunting and sharing his testimony.
He truly lived the scripture, “In as much as you have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, you have done it until me,” Matthew 25:40.
He deeply loved and cherished his devoted wife, Nadeen; three children and their spouses and families, Marilyn Fitch (Bob), Linda Harding (Mike), Mike Moles (Gloria), Robbie Fitch, Elizabeth Fitch Tilley (Joe), Elliott Harding (fiancée, Elaine McCafferty), Michael Moles II, Jeff Moles (Nicky); and three greatgrandchildren. Additionally, he is survived by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at McDow Funeral Home, 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, followed by a graveside service at Central Advent Christian Church Cemetery, Clifton Forge.
The family will receive friends at McDow Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 11.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, sons-in-law and son.
