November 7, 1977- Clifton Forge's Les Tinsley catches a pass for good yardage and Covington's Donnell Ross makes the tackle during the Little Brown Jug football game Saturday night at Memorial Park in Clifton Forge. The prolonged rain stopped long enough for the game to be played and Covington kept possession of the jug by roaring to a 36-0 halftime lead and going on to win 42-6. Photo: Virginian Review

Protecting Your Hard-Earned Tax Dollars

Nobody likes fraud, especially hardworking Americans who pay their taxes and play by the rules. Your tax dollars should be used responsibly, not stolen by criminals or lost to waste and abuse.

I’m proud to stand with Vice President JD Vance in the fight to crack down on fraud, hold bad actors accountable, and protect the taxpayers who keep our Nation strong. I’ve taken his anti-fraud pledge to help put an end to fraud and ensure hardworking Americans’ tax dollars are protected. It’s time to stop waste, hold criminals accountable, and put taxpayers first.

I will continue supporting legislation and policies that combat fraud, protect taxpayer dollars, and ensure those who abuse the system are held accountable. By fighting fraud and promoting accountability, we can restore trust and protect the integrity of our government. Hardworking Americans deserve to know their money is being used responsibly.

Fighting to Expand Rural Health Care Access in Virginia’s Sixth District

The Working Families Tax Cuts Act that I supported and voted for included $50 billion for the Rural Health Transformation Program to strengthen health care and support rural communities nationwide. Through this initiative, I helped Virginia secure $190 million to support rural healthcare. However, while some localities in our district are classified as nonrural under definitions used by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy (FORHP) definitions, many of these communities are rural in practice and face significant health care access and funding challenges. Despite serving rural populations and experiencing many of the same resource shortages as designated rural communities, these areas are excluded from critical rural health funding because they do not meet the current federal classification. This designation leaves already underfunded communities without access to resources they need to sustain and expand essential health care services. On September 22, 2026, I sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to ensure that our rural communities have access to Rural Health Transformation Program funding across Virginia’s Sixth District.

Much of Virginia’s Sixth District is rural and underserved. Even communities with low population density can be classified as part of metropolitan areas, while residents face significant barriers to health care, including limited transportation infrastructure, lack of broadband access, and the geographic challenges that come with living in the Shenandoah and Roanoke Valleys. These barriers can make it more difficult for residents to access timely, quality care close to home.

The Rural Health Transformation Program provides an important opportunity to expand access to care, strengthen health care systems, and support innovative solutions in rural communities. I believe communities facing these challenges should have every opportunity to benefit from these resources, particularly when they have established health care partners ready to put them to work.

Ensuring my constituents have access to quality health care is a priority, and I will continue advocating for the resources and support needed to strengthen health care across Virginia’s Sixth District.

Recognizing the Businesses Driving Our Local Economy

On October 6th, I visited Superior Paving and NAPA in Salem to learn more about their operations and the important role they play in our regional economy.

Strong local businesses are the backbone of our communities. Their hard work creates jobs, supports families, and helps keep Virginia’s Sixth District thriving. I appreciate seeing their work firsthand and recognizing the contributions they make to our community every day.

Delivering for Virginia’s Sixth District

I’m proud to continue serving the people of Virginia’s Sixth District and helping constituents navigate challenges when they arise.

One constituent contacted my Winchester office after months of delays with an expected tax refund. After filing their taxes on February 17, 2026, and calling the IRS repeatedly since April, they turned to my office for assistance. We contacted the Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS), and just one month later, the constituent received their $10,892.73 tax refund.

Helping Virginians resolve issues and access the resources they are entitled to is one of the most important parts of my job. If you are experiencing a problem with a federal agency, please do not hesitate to reach out to my office. My team and I are here to help.

Committed to Serving the People of the Sixth District

It is an honor to serve as your congressman representing Virginia’s Sixth District. This is home. These are our neighbors, our families, and the communities that make the Sixth District such a special place to live. Every day, I am reminded of the responsibility I have to represent you and deliver results for the people who call this district home.

Your concerns are my concerns, and my office remains committed to providing the responsive, dedicated constituent service you deserve. Whether it is helping you navigate a federal agency, answering your questions, or working to resolve an issue, my team and I are here to serve you. It is a privilege to serve you, and I will continue working every day to ensure your voice is heard and your needs remain a priority in Washington.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your Congressman. If my office can ever be of assistance, please contact my Washington office at (202) 225-5431.
