Alleghany County Grand Jury Hands Down Indictments

Numerous indictments were handed down by an Alleghany County Circuit Court grand jury meeting Oct. 9 in Covington.
Those named in the indictments were:
Michael James Casteel, Covington. Assault on a law enforcement officer. Date of alleged offense: April 14, 2018.
Debbie Barber, Covington. Grand larceny. Date of alleged offense: May 17, 2018.
Misty Browning, Covington. Malicious wounding. Date of alleged offense: May 2, 2018.
Jerry Wayne Pickett, Covington. Possession of a controlled substance. Date of alleged offense: June 20, 2018.
Steven James Garrett Sammons, Clifton Forge. Grand larceny involving $200 or more. Date of alleged offense: Feb. 22, 2018.
Daniel Wayne Cole, Covington. Strangulation resulting in wound or injury and abduction by force or intimidation. Date of alleged offenses: June 1, 2018.
Zachary Allen Rose, Covington. Abduction by force or intimidation  and assault and battery of a family member. Date of alleged offenses: July 11, 2018.
Michael William Bess, Covington. Driving while intoxicated, third offense within 10 years with a blood alcohol content of 0.15 to 0.20. Date of alleged offense: June 23, 2018.
Kimberly Michelle Campbell, Covington. Seill or provide for the resale of a Schedule I/II?drug (three counts).  Dates of alleged offenses: Nov. 21, 2017; May 9, 2018; May 17, 2018.
Christopher Michael Sherrill, Covington. Strangulation. Date of alleged offense: July 21, 2018.
Brandon Michael Fisher, Covington. Entering dwelling house with intent to commit larceny, assault and battery or other felony (two counts). Date of alleged offenses: July 14, 2018.
Kayla Mae Workman, Covington. Hit and run. Date of alleged offense: July 18, 2018.
Joseph Michael Sammons Sr., Clifton Forge. Entering dwelling house with intent to commit larceny, assault and battery or other felony, larceny of a firearm, possession of a gun after being convicted of a non-violent felony. Date of alleged offenses: July 2, 2018.
Brian Scott Averill, Clifton Forge. Assault and battery. Date of alleged offense: July 14, 2018.
Steven Duane Spinks, Clifton Forge. Aggravated sexual battery of victim under 13 years of age (three counts). Dates of  alleged offenses: June 1, 2018; June 16, 2018.
Jason David Harrison, Clifton Forge. Assault and battery of a family member. Date of alleged offense: Sept. 20, 2018.
Amber Lynn Cote, Barre, Vt. Malicious assault resulting in injury. Date of alleged offense: Aug. 29, 2018.
Allen Shane Gutshall, Covington. Manufacture a control substance and possession of a gun with a Schedule I/II?drug. Date of alleged offenses: Aug. 8, 2018.
George Good, Front Royal. Prisnoner: destruction of personal property. Date of alleged offense: Aug. 2, 2018.
Benjamin Ugal Harron, Fayettville, W.Va., Possession of a Schedule I/II?drug. Date of alleged offense: July 24, 2018.
Ray David Patterson, Eagle Rock. Driving while intoxicated after previous conviction. Date of alleged offense: July 22, 2018.
James Benjamin Curtis, Clifton Forge. Assault on a law enforcement officer (four counts). Date of alleged offenses: Aug. 17, 2018.
Jamie Eagle Brown, Clifton Forge. Malicious bodily injury. Date of alleged  offense: Aug. 29, 2018.
Walter Thomas Smith, Covington. Possession and transportation of a weapon after being convicted of a violent felony and  discharging a firearm or missile within an occupied building. Date of alleged offenses: July 13, 2018.
Shaun Christopher Smith, Covington. Possession of a controlled substance. Date of alleged offense: July 25, 2018.
James Benjamin Curtis, Clifton Forge. Assault of a law enforcement officer. Date of alleged offense: Aug. 17, 2018.
Cassandra McDorman, Hot Springs. Larceny of $500 or more through welfare fraud (five counts). Dates of alleged offenses: Jan. 19, 2016; Jan. 22, 2016; Dec. 6, 2016; Oct. 17, 2017; March 30, 2018.
Arden Wayne Perkins Jr., Staunton.  Failure to perform promise for construction in return for advances involving more than $200 (two counts). Date of alleged offenses: Oct. 1, 2017.
Daryn Leigh Peters, Boones Mill. Possession of a Schedule VI?drug. Date of alleged offense: Dec. 30, 2017.
Robert Eugene Trout II, Quinwood, W.Va. Possession of obscene material for sale (two counts), contributing the delinquency of a minor (two counts). Date of alleged offenses: July 1, 2018.
Vicky Lee Watts, Clifton Forge. Larceny of $500 or more through welfare fraud (five counts). Dates of alleged offenses: March 30, 2017; Aug. 19, 2017; Oct. 3, 2017; Oct. 18, 2017; Oct. 19, 2017.
