SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Danny Lee Nicely, 75, of Springfield, Mass., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017, at East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center.
Danny, son of the late Allen Lee and Edith Marie (Williams) Nicely, was born in Alleghany County, April 12, 1942.
Danny proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force.
He was a body shop manager for Hampden Dodge for 17 years and went on to work for various other local body shops in Western Massachussetts.
Danny was an avid car enthusiast and loved going to car shows.
He also enjoyed vacationing, going to the beach and riding his motorcycle.
Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his dog, Toby.
In addition to his parents, Danny was predeceased by his daughter, Christina Nicely.
He will be missed by all who knew him, including his beloved wife of 54 years, Catherine M. (Miller) Nicely; his son, Danny Nicely Jr. and his wife Darlene of Springfield, Mass.; his daughters, Sherry Ouimet of Conway, Mass. and Cynthia Nicely of Springfield, Mass.; his brothers, Dwight Nicely and his wife Maggie, Ricky Nicely and Robert Nicely, all of Virginia; his grandchildren, Alyssa, Aimee, Owen, Mia, Aidan and Brooke; his great-grandchildren, Aralyn, Trevor, Logan and Emma; and many extended family members and friends.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Sampson’s Family Chapels have been entrusted with the arrangements.
