COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – A building that once housed one of the largest retail stores in the Alleghany Highlands has been given a new purpose.

Owner Matt Garten said many communities were left with large vacant buildings after major retailers closed their doors. Rather than let the former retail space sit empty, the building at 129 Mall Road has been converted into climate-controlled storage units. The climate-controlled environment helps protect stored belongings from temperature and humidity changes, making it ideal for items such as photographs, documents and other valuables.

To make moving items more convenient, a drive-through area has also been added, allowing customers to pull directly into the building while loading and unloading.

For more information about the storage facility, call 540-962-1155.
