ROANOKE — Erma Lea Kimberlin Forbes, 79, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, Aug. 21, 2017.
She was born in White Rock Gap, Low Moor, Aug. 21, 1938.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Sullivan Kimberlin Sr. and Ruby Celia Humphries Kimberlin; her guardians, Albert Roy Tingler and Ruby Kimberlin Tingler; her husband, Freddie Hale Forbes; a son, Gary Arthur Forbes; and a brother, Arthur S. (Butch) Kimberlin Jr.
She is survived by her children, Roy A. Forbes of Roanoke, Robert H. (Buddy) Forbes and wife Wanda of Morristown, Tenn., Linda White and husband Brian of Clifton Forge, Boyd S. (Sully) Forbes and Amy of Goode, Cindy L. HIll and husband Larry of Fincastle and Floyd E. Forbes and wife Heike of Fulda, Germany; sisters, Pearl Tenley of Hilltown, Pa., Margaret Fridley of Covington, Peggy Stoops of Palm Harbor, Fla. and Barbara Raphael of Fredericksburg; a brother, Gary Kimberlin of Woodbridge; and her stepmother, Christine Kimberlin.
Also surviving are 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Erma Lea was a CNA at LewisGale Hospital in Salem, and was a long time dedicated and passionate volunteer at the Bradley Free Clinic in Roanoke.
In keeping with her wishes, she has been cremated.
We would like to thank Dr. Franko and the other doctors and staff of 8 South at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for their excellent and compassionate care given her in her final days, and a very special thanks to Dr. Jeri Lantz of Carilion Clinic, who was her doctor for many years. She is truly a gem.
A memorial service to celebrate Erma Lea’s life will be announced at a later date.
