CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Alleghany High School has filed a request to change within the Virginia High School League’s recommended alignment plan for the 2027-31 school years.
The Cougars are seeking to move to Class 2, Region B rather than remain assigned to Class 3, Region C. This is Alleghany’s second year in the Region 3C Shenandoah District. The Cougars previously competed in the Three Rivers District.
A five-member committee will hear alignment appeals Aug. 25 before making a recommendation on the final plan. Any additional appeals must be submitted to the VHSL Executive Committee by Sept. 8.
