Dora Juanita Jordan Moore Hayes, age 89, of the Alleghany Health and Rehabilitation Center in Clifton Forge, and formerly of Low Moor, departed this earthly life on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 to be with her Lord and Savior.
She was born May 1, 1929 in Low Moor, Virginia to the late James Henry and Maggie Burks Jordan.

Dora joined Mount Olivet Baptist Church in Low Moor at an early age and participated in the choir and other church activities.

She attended the Watson School in Covington, Virginia.

Dora married the late Irven H. Moore, Sr. and to that union was born their son, Irven H. Moore, Jr. She lived the majority of her life in Low Moor.

Dora was employed in area nursing homes and restaurants as a cook and worked for different families.  Dora was known for her culinary skills and other crafts.  She always kept her hands busy with cooking, canning, quilting and crocheting.  She took great pleasure and joy in sharing the fried apple pies, cakes, jams and jellies, afghans, and quilts with family, friends, and neighbors.
Dora was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, James Jordan, John Henry Jordan, Robert Jordan, Roosevelt Jordan, and Calvin Jordan, and her sisters, Emma Robinson, Mary Bruce, Mable Davis, and Sara Smith.
Those left to cherish her memory and mourn her loss are her son and his wife, Irven Moore, Jr. and Ettrula of Low Moor; granddaughter, Rachelle (Nakia) Melecio of Lithia Springs, GA; grandson, Jason (Gelynn) Moore of Washington D. C.; great granddaughter, Ryan Noelle Feagin of Lithia Springs, GA; many special nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends, including her lifelong friend, Annie Terry, formerly of Low Moor.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Roslyn Thomas officiating.

Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor.

The family will receive friends on Saturday morning, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Mountain Regional Hospice Volunteers, P.O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA  24422.
