Celebrated World War II Navy Veteran Who Turned 100
Last week, it was an honor to celebrate World War II Navy Veteran Jack Cassell on his 100th birthday. Our country is grateful for the heroic men and women who served and sacrificed for our Nation’s freedom. Jack Cassell’s story is a remarkable testament to generations who have answered the call to defend our nation and its freedom. It was a pleasure to celebrate this milestone birthday with Jack while also honoring all those who serve.
Our Nation is forever grateful to the brave men and women who have worn the uniform and defended the American way of life. I am incredibly proud to represent the Veterans of Virginia’s 6th District and to vote for legislation that provides resources that benefit them. Thank you to Jack and every Veteran in Virginia’s 6th District for their bravery and service to our Nation. I will continue to fight to ensure your sacrifices are always honored.
Lead Efforts to Protect SNAP From Retailer Fraud
Americans deserve accountability for every taxpayer dollar, which is why I am leading efforts to uncover and stop fraud in the SNAP program. My House Republican colleagues and I are continuing our investigation into government fraud, and protecting SNAP from retailer abuse is part of that effort. Recently, the U.S. Department of Agriculture released findings on the SNAP program that included $3 billion in potential fraud and waste, 244,000 people using deceased people’s Social Security numbers, and 500,000 individuals double-enrolled in multiple states. By investigating these findings, we are providing accountability and transparency and reaffirming our commitment to hardworking taxpayers in our Nation.
We cannot allow fraud and abuse to go unchecked. That is why I am devoted to ensuring that Congress continues to strengthen oversight, provide clarity, and earn the trust of the American people. Taxpayers deserve to know their hard-earned dollars are being protected. Republicans are working hard to verify these findings, take action, and ensure that this corruption ends now.
Continued Support for America’s True Daughters
Last week, I was honored to see continued support for my bill, the Daughters of the American Revolution Membership Integrity Act. My district has seen a staggering amount of support for this legislation, which continues to champion women who are part of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). This continued support from leaders like Senator Marsha Blackburn empowers women who represent the exceptional heritage of the birth of our Nation. I am honored to stand alongside Members who hold the standard of confidence, faith, and encouragement for our Nation.
The Daughters of the American Revolution Membership Integrity Act is common-sense legislation that requires the congressionally-chartered DAR to return to serving the true daughters of the American Revolution. The bill adds a requirement to the federal charter that limits membership to only individuals who are biological females and otherwise keeps the genealogical and membership qualifications established by the corporation. By establishing a clear statutory eligibility requirement, the bill aims to eliminate uncertainty regarding membership qualifications in the DAR. This bill would create lasting change for generations to come.
Delivered 15 Months of Zero Illegal Border Entries
This month marked 15 months of zero releases at the border. This signifies another month of historic success at our Nation’s borders. The increase in border security continues to keep Americans safe and provide stability for our community. A Nation without secure borders is not a sovereign nation. We must ensure that those entering our country do so legally and respect the rule of law. Recently, as a member of the House Judiciary Committee, I voted to pass the Permanent Trump Secure Border Act out of Committee. This critical legislation would ensure our border remains secure and protected permanently.
For years, Democrats have refused to fix our immigration system and instead have allowed open borders and criminal illegal aliens to terrorize our Nation. Now, we’re closing the border and supporting the men and women who keep our Nation safe. I’m proud to continue securing the border, restoring accountability, and providing safety for all Americans.
