COVINGTON, VA (VR) — Six employees were taken to a local medical center for evaluation following an incident during routine maintenance at Smurfit Westrock’s Covington mill on July 22, according to a statement released by the company.

Company officials said the mill’s emergency response team transported the workers for medical evaluation after the incident occurred during scheduled maintenance activities. All six employees were evaluated and released later the same day, and none required hospitalization.

Smurfit Westrock did not disclose the nature of the incident or provide additional details about what occurred.

In its statement, the company said an investigation is underway and that it is also conducting a review of its processes.

No additional information has been released.
